Great Decisions 2026

A GREAT afternoon to you, GREAT DECISIONS friends:
Erinn Nicley here, Great Decisions of Delaware. I hope the season finds you all well! The Great Decisions committee and I wanted to INVITE YOU to participate in the 2026 Great Decisions season. We kick off our 2026 Great Decisions series on Friday, March 6, at 12:00 pm at William Street United Methodist Church (basement). This year, we have a blend of speaker-led sessions and a few video / group discussion-led sessions. Last year, we experimented with this and had a lot of fun. We decided on the video/discussion for our first session. The topic (U.S. foreign policy in the Trump era) seemed like a good topic for discussion.
NEED TO KNOW:
-
I am attaching our latest Great Decisions 2026 marketing poster so you can keep track of all 8 sessions this spring.
-
The Great Decisions booklet is now available both in-person ($35) and via an online digital edition in multiple formats ($25).
-
While we encourage you to read the Great Decisions booklet, we WANT YOU TO JOIN US for our weekly discussions even if you don't have the opportunity to read first.
-
HELP US GROW: Please tell your friends and family about Great Decisions and ask them to come with you! We want to grow this year back to our pre-COVID levels.
What is Great Decisions: Great Decisions is a nationwide program coordinated by the Foreign Policy Association. Each year the FPA chooses eight international affairs topics for discussion and generates Great Decisions booklets with background essays about those topics. Local volunteer, non-profit Great Decisions chapters then host local presenter series events for eight weeks to bring these vital topics to “Main Street.”
The Delaware, OH Great Decisions series: Our Great Decisions events are very casual, informal opportunities for community engagement and public scholarship in the heart of our community. We offer open, free, one-hour lectures and/or video/discussion group sessions on Fridays at 12:00 pm at the William Street United Methodist Church in downtown Delaware. Our 2026 Great Decisions programs run from March 6-May 8, 2026 (with two short breaks on March 20 and April 3). We usually have 30-35 guests in attendance (in the past, we have reached over 100). Many are retired citizens, active members of the downtown community, business owners, and Ohio Wesleyan University faculty, staff, and students. EVERYONE is welcome and respected in our non-partisan discussions. Come with questions and curiosity - education is 90% listening, 10% quietly discussing and reflecting!
Great Decisions and the Cultural Fabric of Downtown Delaware: Most importantly, the Great Decisions events are a wonderful opportunity to spotlight Downtown Delaware as a vibrant, intellectual space -- our very own Chautauqua-style experience to bring diverse community members together for respectful, non-partisan exploration of major global topics affecting the United States, Ohio, and our community.
Warm regards to you. Please contact us with any follow-up questions!
